Series background & context

Fight for Me is set in Gingham Lakes, a small town where the past never stays buried and everyone knows who shows up at the local diner. The series follows a close group of friends who have grown up scarred by loss and betrayal, and the women who push them to risk loving anyway.

The main trilogy — Show Me the Way, Follow Me Back, and Lead Me Home — revolves around three very different men bound by friendship. A gruff single dad who runs a construction company, a driven ER doctor, and a tattooed bar owner each think they have their lives under control until a heroine walks into town, or back into their orbit, and knocks those illusions flat.

In Show Me the Way, Rex Gunner’s entire world is his little girl and his job. Rynna Dayne returns to Gingham Lakes to reopen her grandmother’s diner and finds her childhood crush living next door, guarded, angry, and far too compelling. Their slow-burn, neighbors-to-lovers story sets the emotional, slightly suspenseful tone for the rest of the series.

Follow Me Back pairs Dr. Kale Bryant, a man married to his career, with Harley Hope Masterson, a single mom fighting to keep her coffee shop and her son’s life stable. When he becomes her child’s doctor, their forbidden attraction collides with legal and personal stakes that neither saw coming.

In Lead Me Home, bar owner Oliver Preston has spent fourteen years punishing himself for a tragedy that tore him away from Nikki Walters, his sister’s best friend and the girl he has always loved. When threats force Nikki to move into his apartment, their unresolved history and the town’s buried secrets erupt.

The connected novella Hunt Me Down and the later novel Hold on to Hope expand the world with a flirty, fairy-tale-tinged enemies-to-lovers battle between a ruthless developer and a town attorney, and a deeply felt best-friends-to-lovers story featuring the next generation. Together they round out Gingham Lakes as a place where families are chosen as much as they are born.

Readers can dip into any Fight for Me story independently, but reading in order makes it easier to follow the long-running threads of grief, forgiveness, and community that tie the town, and its stubborn heroes, together.
