Fairytales of Folkshore Books in Order

Fairytales of Folkshore is Lucy Tempest's shared-world fairy tale project, a gaslamp fantasy series where each book or mini arc reworks a familiar story inside the same map. The books move from one kingdom to another, but they stay connected through friendships, old bargains, royal politics, and the lingering consequences of magic. Some stories are trilogies or duologies, others stand alone, yet they all feel like part of one larger tapestry.

The best way to picture the series is as a chain reaction. It starts with Adelaide, called Ada, in Thief of Cahraman, Prince of Cahraman, and Queen of Cahraman. She is a thief forced into a royal bride search so she can steal a magical lamp and save the people she loves. That setup gives the series a lot of what it does best right away: hidden identities, palace intrigue, romance under pressure, and fairy tale pieces stretched into bigger adventures.

Then the world gets wider.

Beast of Rosemead and Beauty of Rosemead shift the focus to Bonnie Fairborn, Ada's bookish best friend, who gets thrown into the orbit of a cursed prince named Leander. What begins with a monster-haunted castle grows into a larger journey through Faerie, where curses, family history, and court politics are tangled together. Tempest uses the Beauty and the Beast bones, but she is just as interested in what happens after the obvious setup, once the heroine has to make choices that are bigger than simply learning to love the beast.

The later Folkshore books build on that shared world instead of starting from scratch. Princess of Midnight follows Ornella, or Ella, into the Winter Court for a Cinderella story mixed with frost, danger, and a cursed king. Dreamer of Briarfell turns to Princess Fairuza, whose Sleeping Beauty style curse sends her racing against time with Robin Hood at her side. The Faerie Prince heads deeper into Faerie with Princess Snezhana and Prince Keenan of Autumn, mixing a stolen kingdom with a dangerous quest. Characters who begin as side players in earlier books often step into the center later, which gives the series a satisfying sense of payoff.

That crossover feeling is a huge part of the charm.

Across the whole series, readers can expect clean young adult fantasy romance, but not small stakes. These books like curses, competitions, queens, impostors, enchanted objects, fairy courts, and the kind of emotional tension that comes from loyalty getting pulled in two directions. The romances matter, but so do friendship, responsibility, and the question of what someone does after the story they thought they were in goes wrong.

If you want fairy tale retellings that stay close to one couple and one castle, Folkshore may feel bigger and busier than that. Tempest is aiming for an interconnected world, not a set of isolated remixes. Read in release order, the series works best, because each new story grows out of the last one. What you get in return is a world that keeps opening up.
