Author bio

Fabiola Francisco writes contemporary romance and women's fiction that lean into second chances, bruised hearts, and the messy work of starting over. She is originally from Miami, Florida, and a lot of her fiction carries that mix of heat, emotion, and restlessness you get from people who are trying to outrun old pain while still hoping love might catch up with them.

Writing started early for her. In interviews, she has said she began with poetry as a teenager, using it as a way to sort through feelings and make sense of difficult seasons. That thread never really left. Even after she moved into longer fiction, she kept the same emotional directness, writing characters who are often trying to put words to things they have avoided for a long time.

Her path to novels took a few turns.

She has talked about first trying to write a book in 2009, setting it aside, and then coming back to the work in 2013. That return eventually led to Perfectly Imperfect, her debut novel. It is a good place to see what pulls her back again and again, strong chemistry, wounded people, and the idea that love is rarely neat, but can still be worth the risk.

As her catalog grew, so did her range. Books like Red Lights, Black Hearts and All My Truths and One Lie push into darker, more introspective territory, with characters dealing with trauma, identity, and the stories they tell themselves to survive. On the other side, series like Love in Everton, Carlisle Cellars, and Emerald Bay show how comfortable she is in small-town romance, where gossip travels fast, family ties run deep, and one awkward run-in can change everything.

Country music shows up a lot in her work, too. In Write You A Love Song and the Rebel Desire books, musicians are not just there for glamour. Their careers create pressure, public scrutiny, and distance, while songs become a way to say what the characters cannot always say out loud. Readers who like romance with a little stage light, a little heartache, and a lot of emotional payoff usually find plenty to hold onto there.

She also has a softer, more playful side on the page. Not So Charming, Guarded Deputy, and The Right Kind of Wrong all bring in banter, attraction, and setups that feel fun on the surface, even while the characters carry real baggage underneath. That balance is a big part of her appeal. Her books may open with sparks, but they usually stay focused on trust, healing, and whether two people can meet each other honestly.

She likes imperfect people.

Across her stories, certain patterns keep coming back, guarded heroes, women rebuilding themselves, single parents, first loves, old wounds, and friendships that feel like family. She has also said that her experience as a life coach shapes the way she writes emotional turning points, which helps explain why even her lighter romances tend to care about growth as much as chemistry.

Francisco later moved to Spain, once joking that she traded flip-flops for boots to live out her small-town dreams. These days, that detail feels fitting for the worlds she builds, close communities, open skies, and people looking for a life that feels more grounded. When she is not writing, she has said she loves country music, being outdoors, reading, and drinking plenty of coffee. And through it all, she still returns to her first love, poetry.
