That gives the series a darker edge than its lush dresses and manor-house atmosphere might suggest. The tone is romantic and twisty, but it is also full of pressure. Every bargain costs something.

In Evermore, the scope widens beyond the estate as Jules chases answers through more of Sempera and tries to untangle her place in its oldest conflict. The second book leans harder into memory, destiny, and the emotional fallout of learning that the stories you grew up with may have been built on lies. It still moves fast, but the mythic side of the duology becomes much more central.
