Evening Island Books in Order

Evening Island sits off the shore of northern Michigan, and the setting does a lot of the work here. The island is beautiful, a little nostalgic, and filled with the feeling that summer can change everything. Olivia Miles has said the series was inspired by Mackinac Island, which helps explain the ferry rides, lake views, cottages, and sense of being briefly set apart from ordinary life.

These books lean more toward women's fiction than straight romance, though love is always part of the picture. Each novel follows a different set of sisters or family members returning to the island at a crossroads. If you want Olivia Miles with more sisterhood, more introspection, and a little less emphasis on one central couple, Evening Island is a good place to go. It still has her warmth, but the stories breathe in a slightly roomier way.
