Off Script sends her to Exmouth for a case involving fear, violence, and a former lover. Limelight, Intermission, and Lights Down keep widening the circle, bringing in questions about illness, care, politics, memory, and the strange ways public life leaks into private rooms.

These are issue-driven books, but not in a heavy-handed way.

Hurley uses Enora's life to look at things like Brexit money, county lines crime, mental health, Covid, and the pressures on aging or damaged bodies. Yet the series never forgets to be a thriller. People vanish. Old deals come back to life. Powerful men try to manage events from behind the curtain. Enora is often outmatched on paper, which is exactly why the books work. She survives by staying alert, reading motives, and refusing to let other people decide the shape of her story.

If you want a Hurley series with a strong narrative voice and more family drama in the mix, this is a good place to go. Start with Curtain Call. The later books build best when you already know who Enora is, and what she has had to live through.
