Author bio
Emily March grew up in Texas, and her stories have always carried the dust, heat, and football fever of the place she calls home.
As a Texas A&M graduate she spent years in sales, advertising, and catalog work before she ever sat down to write a novel. The business side taught her about deadlines and grit, but she missed having room for imagination.
In the early 1990s she tried her hand at historical romance under the name Geralyn Dawson and discovered that spinning love stories suited her far better than writing copy. Those early books, set in Texas and the American West, blended humor, family drama, and plenty of frontier trouble.
Readers met cursed gowns and determined heroines in novels like The Bad Luck Wedding Dress and The Bad Luck Wedding Cake, where big-hearted families, small-town gossip, and a touch of superstition keep everyone on their toes. Later, contemporary titles such as My Big Old Texas Heartache and Season of Sisters shifted the focus to modern women balancing careers, friendship, and second chances.
When she relaunched as Emily March, she headed for the Colorado Rockies and created Eternity Springs, a fictional town built around the idea that broken hearts can heal. Beginning with Angel's Rest, the series follows a web of friends, families, and newcomers who find refuge, forgiveness, and occasionally a stray dog or two in that mountain valley.
Across the Eternity Springs books, March often writes about grief, guilt, and starting over at midlife, but she balances the hard stuff with small-town humor, matchmakers, and cozy details like coffee at the diner or a cabin strung with Christmas lights. Her characters are teachers, carpenters, veterinarians, former soldiers, and single parents whose lives feel recognisably messy.
In recent years she has widened her world again with the McBrides of Texas spin-off and the Lake in the Clouds novels, where multi‑generational families sort through old secrets beside a mountain lake. Books such as The Getaway, Balancing Act, and Second Chance Season lean into women’s fiction, but they still carry the romance, optimism, and sense of community that long‑time fans expect.
Over the course of more than forty novels she has hit major bestseller lists, earned industry awards, and seen multiple books named among the year’s best by romance organizations and trade journals. She is also a long-time finalist for major romance prizes and a recipient of a career achievement honor for her body of work.
Today she lives in Texas with her husband and their family, cheering on Aggie sports whenever she can. At home there is usually at least one rescue dog sharing space with her writing desk.
Whether she is writing as Geralyn Dawson or as Emily March, her stories circle the same idea again and again, that love, laughter, and a supportive town can help people survive just about anything.
