Author bio

Eliza Green grew up in Dublin, Ireland, and Dublin is still home. She writes science fiction thrillers and dystopian stories that like to begin with a simple what-if question, then keep pushing until the world around her characters starts to bend.

Her path into writing was not tidy. Before books took over, she tried fashion design, massage, painting, and even ghost hunting. She studied marketing, then went on to work in just about everything except marketing, which seems to have given her both material and a dry sense of humor about working life. For years she wrote around full-time work, including administrative and public service jobs.

Writing arrived by way of reader frustration.

Green has said the urge to rewrite the ending of a certain glittery vampire novel helped nudge her toward fiction. She has also talked about how science fiction films and television spark her ideas, especially stories that hand her a strong what-if scenario to chase. That mix, reader instinct plus speculative curiosity, still feels like the engine behind her work. She has even joked that one of the perks of being a writer is getting to read and call it research.

Her debut novel, Becoming Human, appeared in 2012. That story later evolved into Genesis Code, the opening book in her Genesis series, where Bill Taggart starts pulling at the threads of a government lie on humanity's new home. Genesis Lie and Genesis War widen the story into a tense blend of conspiracy, alien politics, and survival, while the later books push the series into criminal factions, altered humans, fragile treaties, and open revolt. Readers who like science fiction with secrets, pressure, and shifting loyalties usually find a lot to enjoy there.

She also writes younger-skewing dystopian fiction. In The Facility, Anya Macklin is sent into a brutal training program that claims to keep her safe while testing how much of herself she can hold on to. The Collective and The Haven expand that world into something bigger, with rebels, memory loss, machine power, and the steady feeling that official stories are never the whole truth. Across both major series, Green keeps coming back to people trapped inside systems that say they are acting for the greater good.

Control is one of her favorite villains.

Even when Green changes scale, from colony politics to enclosed survival games, her fiction keeps circling the same questions. Who benefits from order? What does freedom cost? How do ordinary people know when the version of events they have been handed is a lie? Her standalone Duality carries that same interest into a reality-bending mystery about a man who may be unstable, manipulated, or seeing more clearly than everyone else around him. The big ideas matter, but the stories usually stay anchored in grief, fear, mistrust, and the need to make a choice before all the facts are in.

Green spent years writing while holding down a full-time job, and in a 2016 interview she said she had finally left public service to write full time. On her author pages she comes across as funny and practical about the work. She has said that walking helps her solve story problems, that The Matrix is a favorite film, and that she loves the kind of story that gets her imagination moving. She still lives in Dublin, and when she isn't writing, she has mentioned reading, trying new food, going to the movies, and singing along to anything with a decent beat.
