Series background & context

Elemental Witch blends time travel, witches, druids, and Highland atmosphere into a series that feels both intimate and restless. The books begin with Katerina, an anthropologist whose trip to Scotland turns into a brutal family revelation when visions and old magic make it clear she is tied to a line of dangerous witches.

Arlen, the Arch Druid of Great Britain, is the first person to recognize the scale of the problem. The Roskelly witches are not safely in the past. They are active, violent, and focused on Kat. That gives the series its central tension almost immediately. Kat does not just have to learn who she is. She has to survive what her bloodline has dragged into the present.

Time travel gives the books their extra bite. Characters are pulled backward into older Scotland, forced to navigate clan history, buried feuds, and magic that is far more raw than anything the present can comfortably contain. By the later books, Sean, Liliana, and the wider fight against the Roskellys deepen the series into a generational struggle rather than a single awakening.

The romance is real, but so is the menace. This is not soft Highland fantasy. The dead do not stay quiet, and the past refuses to stay buried.

If you like stories where ancestry is both inheritance and curse, Timespell, Time's Curse, and Time's Hostage offer a strong mix of dark family magic, druid lore, and travel between eras. The Highlands are more than scenery here. They are part of the trap and part of the answer.
