Electric Empire is a three-book steampunk fantasy mystery series set in an alternate nineteenth-century London. It is a grimy, electric-lit city of laboratories, alleyways, strange machines, and old fears given new forms. Science is powerful here, but so are magic, alchemy, and the things respectable society would rather deny exist.

At the center is Dr. Eliza Jekyll, a crime scene physician trying to make a place for herself in a profession that does not easily welcome women. She is smart, careful, and determined to solve murders with evidence and method. But Eliza carries a family legacy she cannot safely explain: she is the daughter of Henry Jekyll, and she shares her body with a second self, Lizzie Hyde.

Where Eliza seeks control and respectability, Lizzie is impulsive, fearless, and drawn to danger. Their unusual relationship is the emotional engine of the series. They must negotiate time, secrets, romance, and survival while wanting sharply different things from life. Every time Eliza turns to the potion connected to her father's experiments, she risks giving Lizzie more room to act.

Each book builds its mystery around a brutal crime. In The Diabolical Miss Hyde, Eliza hunts a killer targeting women in London while trying to conceal Lizzie from the Royal Society. The Devious Dr. Jekyll begins with a murder involving a stolen face and leads into a case of black magic, alchemy, and conspiracy. In The Dastardly Miss Lizzie, the murders of prominent scientists collide with secret laboratories, dangerous inventions, and wider threats to London.

The city itself matters as much as the cases. The Royal Society has authority over what counts as proper science, and its agents are quick to treat forbidden knowledge as a crime. That puts Eliza in a difficult position. Her work gives her access to investigations, but her own existence could make her a target. Royal Society investigator Remy Lafayette becomes an important and complicated ally as the stakes rise.

This is not a quiet historical puzzle series.
