Series background & context

The setup is half serious, half delightfully odd. Three former Army Rangers, Parker Wilson, Jack Hunter, and Dean Colter, step away from military life and decide not to build the usual security business. Instead they launch DreamMakers Inc., a company that helps other men plan memorable dates. It is a smart little premise because it gives the books two things at once, competence and chaos.

Each story follows one of the partners as the business of orchestrating romance crashes into his own messy love life. All Fired Up gives Parker a one-night spark with Lynn Davidson that refuses to stay simple. Love is a Battlefield turns Jack's long-running hands-off rule about Pepper Wilson into a lost cause. Don't Walk Away brings Dean face to face with Emma Lee and all the hurt he never really dealt with.

These books are contemporary romances with a lot of banter and a strong sense of male friendship. The Army background matters, but mostly because it explains the heroes' loyalty, confidence, and habit of treating emotions like problems that can be solved with better planning.

That is where the fun comes in. These men can organize a perfect evening for someone else, but they are much worse at telling the truth about what they want. The result is a series that feels fast, sexy, and funny without losing the emotional cleanup after the sparks fly.

If you want Vivian Arend in a lighter, contemporary mode, this is an easy place to jump in.
