Dragon Lore Books in Order

Dragon Lore is a Highland fantasy romance series that happily throws several favorite Ann Gimpel ingredients into one pot: dragon shifters, Celtic gods, time slips, witches, and a strong sense of place in the Scottish Highlands.

The early books set the tone. Highland Secrets brings in Angus Shea, a man with visions and a long grudge against the Celts, plus Arianrhod, who is carrying secrets of her own while investigating missing dragon shifters. To Love a Highland Dragon shifts the setup into a time-crossed romance, with Lachlan waking from another era beneath modern Inverness and Maggie getting pulled headfirst into the magical inheritance she never expected.

From there the series keeps widening. Dragon Maid adds Jonathan, Britta, and a battle that ties personal desire to much larger magical stakes. Dragon's Dare leans harder into war, with the Morrigan gathering strength and the dragons threatening to close off their own world. Dragon Fury branches outward again through Selkies and a gateway to Arcadia, while still feeling connected to the larger Dragon Lore world.

What holds it together is the mix of romance and mythic danger. These are linked-love stories, but they are not sealed off from the wider plot. The fate of dragons, the stability of Earth, and the actions of old gods all keep pressing on the characters.

If you like romance that comes with kilts, caves, old magic, dangerous bloodlines, and a lot of Highland atmosphere, this series is easy to sink into. It is warm in its romantic core, but it never forgets that myth can be gorgeous and threatening at the same time.
