Author bio

Domino Savage is the darker-fantasy pen name of the writer many romance readers first knew as Terry Bolryder. Before launching this name, she had already built a large audience with paranormal romance and sold more than five million books. Starting Domino Savage gave her room to write longer stories, darker heroes, and a bigger, more layered fantasy world.

That shift says a lot about her.

As Terry Bolryder, she wrote quickly and widely in shifter romance. Titles such as Gold, Onyx Dragon, and Cowboy Dragon show the kind of setup she returns to often: supernatural heroes, strong chemistry, danger close at hand, and heroines who have to stand up for themselves. Even in shorter, faster books, she likes pressure. Somebody is hunted, cornered, underestimated, or outmatched, and then the story asks what happens when they stop giving ground.

Under Domino Savage, the canvas gets bigger.

The clearest example is the Rise of the Morningstar series, which begins with The Demon’s Pet and continues through The Demon's Path and The Star's Sword. These books follow Cleo, an omega wolf shifter pulled out of a brutal, rule-bound life and into a struggle that involves celestials, demons, prophecy, and the dangerous Samael. The romance is still central, but it shares space with quests, training, battles, and a world that keeps opening wider. If Terry Bolryder often feels built for a quick plunge into creature romance, Domino Savage feels built for the long ride.

What links both names is her taste for characters who are pushed to the edge and push back anyway. Her heroines are often dismissed, boxed in, or treated as if they should accept whatever role the world assigned them. Her heroes tend to be intimidating, secretive, and a little feral around the edges, but fiercely loyal once they commit. She also returns again and again to outsider stories, uneven power systems, protective love, and the idea that desire can be both a refuge and a source of trouble.

She has also said that she wants the Domino Savage books to feel satisfying as complete reads, not just as bait for the next installment.

That helps explain why the novels feel packed. There is usually a lot going on at once: heat, humor, supernatural rules, travel, fights, jealousy, and long emotional turns in the middle of chaos. The books move fast, but they like to leave readers with a full meal.

Public biographical detail is fairly light, but a few personal notes show up regularly. She has described living in the mountains with her husband, spending time outdoors, playing with her pets, dreaming about dragons, and watching sunsets. Those details fit the fiction more than you might expect. Even when the mood turns dark, there is a clear affection for big fantasy creatures, wild landscapes, and stories that mix danger with a sense of fun.

Whether she is writing as Terry Bolryder or Domino Savage, she seems drawn to stories with teeth. If you like dark antiheroes, stubborn heroines, supernatural romance, and fantasy worlds that keep getting bigger as the series goes on, that is very much the corner of the shelf she writes for.
