The leads are good at their work, cautious about intimacy, and forced to rely on someone they did not plan to need. Medical knowledge is not window dressing, it helps drive the investigation and raises the stakes when lives are on the line.

The books are best read in order, starting with Enticed by the Operative, though each follows a separate couple and has its own complete central crisis. Readers who enjoy doctors as active problem-solvers, unusual settings, and romance built during an emergency will find a lot to like here.
