Series background & context

Distinguished Gentlemen is a multi-author contemporary romance series built around a bachelor auction fundraiser. The shared setup gives each book a public event, a good cause, and a man who may not be as ready for attention as he thinks.

Sherelle Green's entry, The Contingency Bid, follows Kadaris Kathan, a barbershop owner pulled in as a last-minute bachelor by Mama Peaches, a beloved neighborhood figure. Kadaris is rough around the edges, stubborn, and not exactly eager to be polished for public bidding.

Enter Khloe Madison.

Khloe is an etiquette coach who does not back away from a challenge. She makes a deal with Kadaris: give her ten days to turn him into the ideal bachelor, and they will see who ends up owing whom.

The series is grounded in community romance. The auction is fun, but the real story is about pride, vulnerability, and the thin line between irritation and attraction. Green's book works well for readers who like frenemies, neighborhood warmth, and grown people with history under the banter.
