Raising Kane follows a girl who feels trapped by responsibility at home, while Lying to Live centers on a boy who sees a terrible crime and is too frightened to tell the truth. Denim is still a key presence, but the series becomes broader as it goes on. She is not just a protagonist, she is also a bridge between stories, someone whose empathy draws her toward other people's hardest moments.
