When Deanna suspects that a young woman may be in real danger, she is forced to decide whether staying safe in her apartment matters more than trying to stop a possible predator.

Do Not Disturb shows what happens when Deanna finally steps outside her locked door and onto the open road. Her escape quickly becomes a hunt, with someone dangerous tracking her every move and using her past against her. The isolation of her apartment is replaced by motel rooms, truck stops, and a sense that anyone she meets could be a threat or a target.

In the final book, If You Dare, Deanna's story is told from an even more constrained place, a prison cell. Writing from confinement, she looks back over the choices that brought her there and the blurred line between justice and punishment. The series asks whether someone who has done terrible things can be both villain and protector, and whether Deanna's instincts to harm are a curse, a symptom, or a twisted kind of weapon.

The tone throughout is tense and uncompromising, with frank depictions of sex and violence. At the same time, Deanna's voice is wry, self aware, and often surprisingly tender.
