Series background & context

The Deadly Reigns series takes Teri Woods into family crime saga territory. Instead of building the story around one street boss, it centers on the Reigns family, a rich, violent organization with power, polish, and enemies everywhere. Damian Reigns is the smooth public face, educated and controlled. His brother Dante is the blunt force protection behind the empire. Their sister Princess is just as dangerous, and often harder to predict. Together, they make the family business feel both glamorous and unstable.

This series is family first, war second, and trouble all the time.

The first book, Deadly Reigns, sets that tone quickly. The family is already powerful, but power is not the same thing as safety. The FBI wants them badly enough to send in Agent Grace Moore as an undercover decoy, hoping she can get close to Damian and crack the whole operation open. That setup gives the trilogy two engines at once. One is the inside story of a crime family protecting money and status. The other is the outside pressure of surveillance, infiltration, and federal pursuit.

The siblings do not all play the same role, which keeps the books moving. Damian is polished and strategic. Dante is more direct and brutal. Princess brings manipulation, ego, and volatility. Later, Dajon Reigns becomes important too, especially in Deadly Reigns II, when the family faces enemies with political reach, mob backing, and help from the Commission and the FBI. He is less experienced than the others, and that makes his part of the series feel tense in a different way. He is learning the rules while the house is already on fire.

By Deadly Reigns III, the conflict turns even more personal. A mafia hit that leaves Angela, Dante's pregnant wife, fighting for life pushes the family into outright war. The question is no longer just whether the empire can survive. It is whether anyone in the family can protect the people they love while all their old enemies come looking for blood. That gives the final book a sharper emotional edge, even as it keeps the series big, violent, and fast.

Nobody in this trilogy gets to stay clean.

If you like stories about criminal families, sibling power struggles, undercover threats, and enemies circling from every direction, Deadly Reigns delivers exactly that. It is less intimate than Alibi and more ensemble-driven than True to the Game. The pleasure is in watching a dangerous family try to hold itself together while every outside force tries to break it apart. Start at the beginning and read straight through, because each book raises the pressure on the same core cast.
