Her new status as a goddess made flesh makes her a target for supernatural factions who either want to control her or erase her, and every choice she makes ripples through both the mortal world and the realm of the gods.

One of the series’ big pleasures is its sense of place. Johnson uses familiar Liverpool landmarks, rain swept streets and crowded clubs as the backdrop for magical showdowns and snarky conversations, so the city feels like a character in its own right rather than a generic urban fantasy setting.
