The Danny Duggin series is really the story of Danielle Strange, a woman who turns grief into a disguise, a reputation, and a trail of dead outlaws. It starts with the murder of her father, Daniel Strange, a respected Missouri gunsmith. When he is killed on a trip to Texas, Danielle does not wait for someone else to make things right.

She becomes Danny Duggin.

In Death Rides a Chestnut Mare, Danielle rides under that name with her father's twin Colts and hunts the men responsible. The disguise is more than a trick. It gives her room to move in a violent world that does not expect a young woman to be the gunfighter coming for it. The result is a revenge Western with a sharper personal edge.

The Shadow of a Noose shifts attention to Jed and Tim Strange, Danielle's twin brothers. Their father is dead, their mother has died, and they cannot keep the farm going. They ride west to find the sister who left home to avenge their father, but the trail teaches them fast. Before they can even begin the search properly, they are accused of murder and forced to flee a posse.

The later books bring the Strange siblings together while making Danny Duggin's name more dangerous. In Riders of Judgement, Danielle has spent years hunting her father's killers and plans to push her fight into Mexico. A powerful cattleman, Saul Delmano, puts a price on Danny's head, drawing bounty hunters and outlaws from all directions. In Death Along the Cimarron, Danielle tries to settle into ranch life, but the past rides in again after a friend is killed.

The series has a strong Western revenge shape, but it is also about identity. Danielle can survive as Danny, but every victory makes that name harder to put away. Her brothers want family. The world wants a target.

That tension carries the books.

The setting moves from Missouri grief to Texas ranch country, cow towns, border danger, and the Cimarron country. The stakes are intimate: family honor, survival, and whether justice can ever be finished once the shooting starts.
