Daniel Price Books in Order

Daniel Price was born in Manhattan, the son of an Israeli immigrant and a native New Yorker. He has lived in several places, including Brooklyn, Boston, San Francisco, central Maine, and Los Angeles, before settling in Gilbert, Arizona. That movement through cities and regions sits comfortably beside the restless, alternate versions of America in his fiction.

Before publishing fiction, Price spent years as a layout and production artist in corporate marketing departments. He also tried screenwriting, a route that connected him with the agent who later stayed with him as he moved into novels. The jobs gave him a close look at how messages are designed, packaged, and sold, ideas that sit at the center of his first book.

His debut was Slick, published in 2004.

It is a comic, sharp-edged novel about Scott Singer, a publicist managing a crisis around a controversial music star. The book follows his attempt to redirect public attention with an enormous media hoax. It isn't science fiction, but it sets up a thread that runs through Price's work: people improvising under pressure, then learning that control is harder to keep than it looks.

A decade later, Price shifted into speculative fiction with The Flight of the Silvers. The novel opens as sisters Hannah and Amanda Given, together with four strangers, are pulled from an apocalypse and dropped into an alternate Earth. The place is both familiar and skewed, with floating restaurants, changed history, and everyday devices that can bend time. The group must handle powers they never asked for while trying to understand why they were saved.

The story grew into the three-book Silvers trilogy.

The Song of the Orphans continues their life in this altered America, with the refugees under pressure from government operatives, powerful time benders, and the unanswered motives of their rescuers. The War of the Givens, published in 2024, completes the arc as the Silvers race to stop their adopted world from meeting the same disaster that destroyed their own. Readers who come for the twists and action also spend a lot of time with a group whose bonds change from wary alliance to something closer to family.

Time is more than a gimmick in these books. Price has said that a serious illness in 2006 gave him a new perspective, and he sees the series as being about time and the ways people deal with having only so much of it. That concern gives the high-concept setup a human center.

Price lives in Gilbert with his partner, Nancy. His author notes mention a later standalone set on a different alternate Earth, without time manipulation. In the meantime, his published work offers two very different doors in: a media satire and a completed science-fiction trilogy.
