Danby Summons is one of Aileen Fish's clearest and most enjoyable recurring setups. At the center is the Duke of Danby, an older, powerful nobleman with a taste for matchmaking and Christmas house parties. When his summons arrives, the recipient usually knows trouble is coming. That trouble often looks like an unwanted match, a special license, or a room full of relatives with opinions.
The books are connected by that annual pressure cooker. A holiday gathering at Danby Castle or within Danby's orbit forces men and women to confront secrets, letters, buried crushes, and family expectations.
