Danby Books in Order

The Danby stories are small-scale, warmhearted Regency romances with a strong Christmas feel. They center on the extended family around the Duke of Danby, with old hurts, missed chances, and family meddling doing almost as much work as Cupid.

That is part of the charm.

These books are not about sprawling political intrigue or a giant cast crossing half of London. They are about people arriving at a country house, or being summoned there, and discovering that the season has a way of forcing honesty. A broken heart that looked permanent suddenly has to be faced. A misunderstanding that seemed survivable no longer is. The duke himself often feels like the sort of elder who sees more than everyone around him and is not above nudging events along.

In A Season of Hope and Winning a Lady's Heart, Caldwell leans into second chances, family loyalty, and holiday atmosphere. Snow, house parties, awkward reunions, and the sense that old love might still be alive all matter here. The stakes are personal rather than sweeping, which gives the books a gentler rhythm than some of her darker series.

Even so, these are still very much Christi Caldwell romances. The characters carry bruises, pride gets in the way, and love has to be earned. The difference is in the mood. Danby is softer, cozier, and more intimate.
