Author bio
Cristin Harber grew up in Alexandria, Virginia, and she started writing early. As a kid, she was already filling pages with long mysteries and thrillers. She grew up in a house full of books, and that steady reading life stayed with her.
She was writing stories long before publishing looked realistic.
Harber went to the University of Louisville, where she studied business, then moved into grassroots politics and political work in Washington. During those years, she kept writing on the side. While coworkers went out after long campaign days, she often went back to her hotel room and worked on stories instead.
By 2007, she had reached a simple but important conclusion, the stories were good, and she wanted to publish. She started learning the business side the hard way, through workshops, conferences, and plenty of rejection. Then, while waiting for a prescription at a CVS on Duke Street in Alexandria, she picked up Laura Leigh's Renegade. That book opened the door to military romance for her, and it gave shape to the kind of story she wanted to tell, action, danger, and a central love story all at once.
That changed everything.
Harber eventually chose self-publishing, a move that gave her speed, control, and a direct path to readers. Her first Titan novel, Winters Heat, arrived in 2013 and helped launch her career in a big way. Readers voted her onto Amazon's Top Picks for Debut Romance Authors, and the Titan books quickly built a loyal audience for their mix of black ops action, protective heroes, and emotionally bruised couples.
If you want a feel for her range, Winters Heat is a strong place to begin. It introduces the Titan world with Mia and Colby, a road trip, classified intel, and a hero who is tougher than he looks and softer than he wants to admit. Garrison's Creed and its prequel Sweet Girl show how well she handles second chances and long-buried history. Only for Him starts a very different kind of story, a coming-of-age romance that unfolds across four connected books and really does need to be read in order.
Then there are books like The Savior, which opens her Aces series with grief, murder, and a sharp romantic suspense engine, and Noah, which shows her quieter small-town side without losing the protective streak that runs through so much of her work. Across the catalog, readers tend to come for the momentum and stay for the relationships. Her stories are usually full of soldiers, bodyguards, operatives, spies, and women who are under pressure but never passive.
That is the through line.
Harber's books often circle back to the same ideas, loyalty, found family, second chances, and what happens when capable people are pushed to the edge. Even when the setup involves cartels, covert missions, or stalking threats, the emotional center is usually close to home. She likes big stakes, but she also likes the moment when two people finally stop dodging what they feel.
She has also spoken about treating writing like a real business, not just a creative dream, and she has shared that side of the job with other writers at conferences and workshops. These days, she lives outside Washington, DC, with her family and an English bulldog. The books still carry that mix of drive, practicality, and heart.
