Contagious sits in a darker corner of Joy Deja King's catalog. Even the first title, Contagious: A Nightmare Is Looming, signals the mood right away. This is not a rise-to-power saga. It feels more like a threat story, where fear spreads fast and no one gets to pretend the danger is far away.

The title tells you a lot about what to expect.

Instead of centering glamour or empire building, this series leans into dread, suspicion, and the way one bad situation can infect a whole circle of people. The tension comes from the sense that trouble is moving closer, and that once it starts, it may be impossible to contain.
