Series background & context

The Coltons of Roaring Springs is a multi-author romantic suspense series set in a Colorado community where the wealthy, influential Colton family is at the center of both local life and major danger. The books combine family drama with kidnappings, missing people, investigations, and romances that develop when characters are under serious pressure.

Anna J. Stewart's book, Colton on the Run, focuses on Skye Colton. After being kidnapped, Skye wakes in a shed with no clear memory of who she is, how she got there, or why someone wants her dead. All she knows is that escape is urgent.

Then rancher Leo Slattery finds her.

Leo discovers the injured woman hiding on his property and cannot ignore her fear, even when she cannot give him a name. He offers her safety at his ranch while they try to identify the person behind the attack. The more Skye begins to recover fragments of her past, the more dangerous it becomes to send her back to it.

The story uses amnesia as a source of vulnerability rather than an easy shortcut. Skye has to trust her instincts while piecing together her own identity, and Leo has to decide how far he will go for someone who arrives in his life as a stranger. The Colorado ranch setting adds isolation and atmosphere, giving the threat room to feel close.

As with other Colton continuities, the family connection provides a larger backdrop. Readers meet a clan with resources, secrets, and plenty of people determined to protect one another. The books are designed so each romance and case has a satisfying focus, even as the broader series carries on around them.

Colton on the Run is an accessible standalone for readers who want a rancher, a woman in danger, and a fast-moving identity mystery. Start at the beginning of the Roaring Springs sequence if you want to follow every branch of the larger Colton family story.
