The setup gives the series its signature mix of fantasy and familiarity: film crews and celebrity headlines dropped into a town where everybody knows the coffee order and probably your business too.

Their rivalry is personal, but it is also professional, since both women are artists chasing a rare career opportunity. That mix of hurt feelings and creative stakes is very Clover Lake.

By Take a Chance, Sasha Sinclair, Blake uses the series link more loosely and opens the world outward. Sasha is a drifting aspiring filmmaker working on a documentary about the Bishop family in Clare Mountain, North Carolina, where old rumors about witches and family history hang over the story. It still fits the series because the through line is not geography alone. It is women trying to stop coasting, face grief and insecurity, and choose a future that actually feels like theirs.

Across the series, the tone stays warm, sexy, and a little chaotic in the best way. There is found family, career anxiety, ex trouble, and plenty of chemistry, but the books never forget the everyday details that make a romance world feel lived in. If you like queer love stories with humor, messy feelings, and heroines who have to rebuild parts of their lives before they can share them, Clover Lake is very easy to settle into.
