Series background & context

The Civil War Brides series combines historical romance with time travel. Contemporary women find themselves pulled into the world of the American Civil War, where unfamiliar rules, divided loyalties, and the uncertainty of history make every personal choice feel larger.

The Bride Price begins the journey, while later books such as The Bride Found widen the series through connected heroines and historical settings. In The Bride Found, Emma Wellington is trying to deal with her sister and brother-in-law's unexplained disappearance when a strange vision sends her into another time. There she meets Clayton Madden, a man connected to Lincoln's War Cabinet.

Love is complicated when time itself is unstable.

The series uses its historical setting for more than costumes and scenery. Characters must learn how to survive in a society very different from their own while deciding whether they can trust the people around them. Family history, political unrest, danger, and the possibility of changing the future add tension to the romances.

At the center of each book is a relationship between people separated by more than ordinary circumstance. The heroines are often forced to adapt quickly, and the heroes must make sense of women whose speech, knowledge, and behavior do not fit the world they know. That clash creates both lighter moments and real risk.

Start with The Bride Price and read forward. The books share a larger time-travel framework and recurring connections, so the series is most satisfying in order.

Readers who like historical settings but want a paranormal or speculative twist will find a blend of romance, suspense, and questions about whether destiny can be changed.
