Series background & context

Christmas Escape is a multi-author contemporary holiday series about leaving home, or at least leaving your problems behind long enough to breathe.

That makes the setup feel slightly different from a standard Christmas-at-home romance. These stories are about travel, emotional exits, and the way a new place can shake loose feelings a character has been trying not to face. Inns, villages, snowy streets, and temporary lodgings all become part of the romance.

Stockton's book in the series is Cotswolds Holiday. It follows a heroine who does exactly what the series title promises. Faced with a painful wedding invitation tied to her ex and her former best friend, she runs. The escape sends her to the English Cotswolds, where bad travel luck and a very appealing local man turn a retreat into something much messier.

That pattern is likely what readers come to this series for. A character steps away from one crisis and walks straight into a romantic complication that turns out to be much better for them than the life they were trying to return to.

These are meant to be cozy standalones. If travel, Christmas, and a soft reset sound good, this is a welcoming place to start.
