Chris McQueer Books in Order

These darkly comic short stories give everyday life in working-class Scotland surreal twists. Characters dodge unwanted shifts, pursue artistic ambitions, and plan tattoos, while stranger tales venture into parallel universes and a world of backward-facing knees.

Chris McQueer's second short-story collection returns to familiar characters and absurd situations, from Sammy finding work to Angie's holiday. Dark comedy also turns toward Brexit, ghosts, frightening moths, the afterlife, and an imagined confrontation with Kim Jong-Un.

Jamie Skelton rarely leaves his room, finding companionship in online games and incel forums. When he plans to join new acquaintances in London, his mother Fiona must overcome her own damaged confidence to reach him before he slips further away.
