Castle of Dark Dreams Books in Order

The Castle of Dark Dreams series is Nina Bangs at her most playful. The setup is gloriously strange from page one, an adult theme park called Live the Fantasy, a castle attraction built around seduction and role-play, and a backstage staff made up of creatures who are not pretending nearly as much as visitors think. Vampires, demons, angels, cosmic meddlers, and various magical oddballs all share the same stage.

The first book, Wicked Nights, introduces the castle through Donna Nolan, a talk-show host who comes looking for a juicy story and instead collides with Eric McNair, the castle's resident vampire. From there, the series opens outward. Each book follows a different couple, but the castle keeps everyone connected, whether that means cursed men like Brynn in Wicked Pleasure, a goddess-cursed warrior in Wicked Fantasy, or dangerous newcomers like Dacian in My Wicked Vampire.

Nothing about this place stays normal for long.

A big part of the appeal is the supporting cast. Sparkle Stardust, who delights in stirring up trouble, gives the series much of its chaotic heartbeat. Around her are wizards, telepathic cats, supernatural staff, and human outsiders who arrive thinking they are taking a job or chasing a story, only to discover that the castle's fantasies have real teeth. Bangs keeps the tone sexy and funny, but there is always an undercurrent of risk. Secrets have to be protected, old grudges keep resurfacing, and love tends to land on exactly the worst possible person.

As the books go on, the world gets wider and messier in a good way. Wicked Edge and Wicked Whispers lean into the series blend of temptation and danger, while Wicked Memories raises the stakes by bringing in Thorn Mackenzie and his rival amusement park, Nirvana, right across from the castle. That rivalry gives the series a stronger ongoing arc, because now the threat is not just one enemy or one bad night. It is competition, revenge, and the possibility that the strange little world the castle crew has built could finally come apart.

The novellas Hot Summer Bites and Color Me Wicked fit neatly into that same mood. They show how easy it is for reporters, designers, artists, and other ordinary people to get pulled into the castle's orbit, then discover that nothing there is as staged as it looks. Even when the setup sounds wild, Bangs keeps the emotional goal simple. Two people want each other, do not fully trust the situation, and have to decide whether desire is worth the danger.

If you want tight realism, this is probably not your series. If you want paranormal romance that happily mixes heat, humor, magical chaos, and a cast that behaves like they know they are living in the weirdest attraction in Texas, it is a very good time. Reading in order helps, because relationships, jokes, and running conflicts build from Wicked Nights through Forever Wicked, and the castle starts to feel like a strange little home base you are always glad to return to.
