Carver and Lake Books in Order

The follow-up, The Cutting Room, gives Carver and Lake a different kind of nightmare. Britain is absorbed by a hit true-crime television show when a killer begins presenting murder as public art. A digital invitation leads Lake to a grotesque display, and the investigation becomes a race to stop someone who wants an audience as much as victims.

Forensic detail is part of the appeal, but it is used to push the story forward rather than slow it down. The books are interested in evidence, procedure, injuries, and the limits of what a scene can reveal. They are equally interested in the people doing the looking, especially when the facts threaten to expose them.
