Series background & context

Brutal Vows is Aleatha Romig's arranged-marriage mafia and cartel world. The series brings the Luciano famiglia and the Roriguez cartel into a tense alliance where marriage is less about romance than survival, at least at first.

Each book focuses on a different couple, which means the romances stand on their own, but the wider conflict keeps carrying forward in the background. That structure makes the series easy to enter while still rewarding readers who go in order.

The common thread is danger. Powerful families. Forced proximity. Age gaps, enemies-to-lovers energy, possessive heroes, and women who have to learn how to move inside systems that were not built for their comfort. Romig uses all of that to keep the books hot, suspenseful, and closely tied to family politics.

Read Now and Forever, Till Death Do Us Part, Bound By A Promise, Queens and Monsters, and To Have and To Hold, then add the holiday novella Naughty and Nice if you want more time in the world.

If you want mafia romance with enough tenderness to balance the threats, this series lands well. The marriages may begin as strategy, but the real question in every book is whether love can survive the violence around it.
