Series background & context
Brothers of Paradise centers on the Marchand family and the people pulled into their orbit, mixing wealth, reputation, and coastal hometown history into a warmer, more sunlit corner of Olivia Hayle's catalog. The series is linked by Paradise Shores, a place where everybody knows the family name and almost everyone carries old memories, old grudges, or old crushes. Some of the books head into offices and travel jobs, but the emotional center stays close to family expectation and the question of who truly belongs in this world.
The opening story is Dark Eyed Devil, first published as Rogue. It is a second-chance romance between Hayden and Lily, built around a secret past, a long separation, and the kind of small-town history that never stays buried for long. That book sets the tone for one of the series' best qualities: the heroes may look like trouble, but the real tension usually comes from history, hurt, and the fear of wanting something you might not get to keep.
Paradise Shores is half escape, half pressure cooker.
That tension shows up in different ways as the series goes on. Ice Cold Boss takes the family wealth into a more urban, work-focused setting when Faye ends up working for Henry Marchand after sending him a memorably rude job application. Red Hot Rebel shifts again, pairing Ivy and Rhys Marchand on a travel campaign that takes them far from home while still keeping class friction, family image, and first impressions right at the center. Even when the scenery changes, the books keep returning to the same push and pull between privilege and independence.
Then Small Town Hero brings the series back to Paradise Shores in the most direct way. Jamie returns home with her daughter, short on money and trust, and ends up working for Parker Marchand, the golden boy she once admired from a distance. The Yacht Club, the small-town gossip, and Parker's steady, protective nature make this book feel especially rooted in the series setting. It is still romantic fantasy, of course, but it is the kind that cares about school pickup, hometown reputations, and whether a fresh start is actually possible.
Across the series, money matters, but it is never the whole point. These books are just as interested in class differences, social judgment, public image, and the quiet ache of feeling like an outsider. The tone is sexy and breezy, but it has more small-town heart than some of Hayle's city-set billionaire romances. If you want connected contemporary romances with wealthy families, strong chemistry, and a little salt air in the background, this is a good place to land.
