The second book, You're a Mean One, Matthew Prince, heads into Christmas territory. Matthew is young, rich, and used to getting his way until a public-relations disaster gets him cut off and sent to spend the holidays with his grandparents in their festive small town. He wants to get home as quickly as possible, not join the local holiday activities or deal with Hector Martinez, the handsome local who is not impressed by him.

A charity gala pushes Matthew and Hector into close contact. The book leans into a Grinch-like redemption arc, but it keeps the focus on what Matthew has been missing: honest relationships, a sense of belonging, and the chance to show up for other people. The holiday setting brings snow, decorations, forced proximity, and a found-family feeling without requiring readers to know Wren and Derick’s story.

Both books are upbeat and character-led, with room for insecurity, growing pains, and romantic mishaps. They are best for readers who enjoy contemporary queer romance with a light touch, but still want the characters’ fears about identity, family, and love to matter.
