A](https://www.amazon.com/dp/1633500071%22,%22description%22:%22A) guarded heroine and a charming Boudreaux find themselves pulled together when neither is looking for more than a brief distraction. New Orleans makes it hard to keep things casual, especially when real feelings get involved.

Series background & context

The Boudreaux series is Kristen Proby’s New Orleans romance playground, built around a big, tight-knit family with strong opinions and even stronger loyalties. Each book follows a different couple, but the Boudreaux siblings stay woven through the whole run.

The setting matters here. New Orleans brings the music, the food, the heat, and that particular mix of charm and chaos that makes it hard for characters to hide from their feelings for long. Family scenes are a feature, not a cameo, so expect meddling, laughter, and the kind of support that looks like showing up on your porch at midnight.

Romance-wise, the series moves through a variety of tropes, from guarded hearts and second chances to protective heroes and relationships that start with sparks and turn into something steadier. A few stories also nod to the city’s sense of mystery and magic, without losing the contemporary romance core.

There’s a lot of food, family noise, and late-night feelings.

You can jump in with any book and still get a complete love story, but reading in order is rewarding because you watch the family grow and change from one wedding, crisis, and reunion to the next.
