Series background & context

The Bobbi McCoy Private Investigator series follows a Louisiana investigator who is used to working the kinds of cases that rarely make headlines. Bobbi McCoy tracks down thieves and cheating spouses, jobs that call for patience, nerve, and a willingness to deal with people at their least polished. She is practical, blunt, and knows how to get answers when someone would rather keep quiet.

Then a missing-person case raises the stakes.

The series opens with Her Last Eclipse, when Louisiana's governor asks Bobbi to find his teenage daughter after she disappears from an upscale drug rehabilitation center in New Orleans. It is a major change from Bobbi's usual work. The client has power, the missing girl is vulnerable, and any mistake will be noticed.

New Orleans matters to the investigation. The city brings money, politics, recovery culture, and old secrets into the same crowded space. As Bobbi looks into the facility, she finds staff members who are reluctant to share what they know and a troubling question about a mysterious older visitor. The trail also points toward Divinity of Light, a local cult with an interest in recruiting people struggling with addiction.

This is private-eye suspense with a hard edge. Bobbi is not handed a clean chain of evidence or a cooperative police force. She has to read people, follow loose leads, and decide which lies are meant to protect someone and which ones are meant to cover a crime. The danger grows as the case starts to connect disappearance, murder, and corruption.

At its core, the series is about an investigator who keeps pushing after the official story stops making sense.

Readers can expect a direct, contemporary mystery driven by Bobbi's point of view and by the pressure of a ticking missing-person case. Her Last Eclipse works as the natural place to start, establishing her work, her instincts, and the risks she takes when a client needs more than a routine search. The focus is less on puzzle-box tricks than on what Bobbi can uncover by refusing to let powerful people set the limits of the investigation.
