The Blue Heron series is set in Manningsport, a tiny town in New York’s Finger Lakes wine country with a population of about seven hundred people and more than its share of drama. At its heart is Blue Heron Vineyard, the Holland family’s eight-generation winery, surrounded by rolling hills, deep lakes and a downtown where the O’Rourke family’s tavern is the place to be.

Each book focuses on a different couple, but the Holland clan and the locals drift in and out of every story. In The Best Man, Faith Holland comes home to Blue Heron after being famously left at the altar. She has to face her ex, Jeremy, who’s still the town’s golden boy, and Levi Cooper, the terse police chief and former best man who forced the ugly truth into the open. Working on the family vineyard and untangling old secrets slowly gives Faith a new view of both men—and of herself.

The Perfect Match centers on Faith’s older sister, Honor, who’s poured everything into keeping the vineyard thriving. After a humiliating rejection from her longtime crush, she agrees to a marriage of convenience with Tom Barlow, a British professor desperate to stay in the U.S. for the sake of the teenage boy he’s raising. Their practical arrangement bumps up against real attraction, tangled exes and small-town scrutiny.

In Waiting on You, we cross the street to O’Rourke’s, the town bar run by Colleen O’Rourke and her twin brother, Connor. Colleen doles out relationship advice to everyone else but keeps her own heart on lockdown, ever since Lucas Campbell walked away years ago. A family emergency brings Lucas back to Manningsport, and the series digs into the messy, very human business of second chances.

In Your Dreams pairs Emmaline Neal, a straightforward cop who needs a respectable date for her ex’s destination wedding, with Jack Holland, Manningsport’s golden boy and reluctant local hero. Their pretend couple act on a Malibu weekend leads to complicated feelings back home, where Jack is quietly struggling with trauma from a recent rescue and an ex-wife who won’t quite let go.

The final book, Anything for You, gives Connor O’Rourke his turn. He’s ready to make things official with Jessica Dunn, his long-time, mostly secret girlfriend and the woman he’s loved for a decade. Jess, who grew up poor and carries responsibility for her vulnerable younger brother, isn’t sure she can risk the vulnerability that marriage requires.

Throughout the series, Blue Heron Vineyard and Manningsport provide a cozy but not sugarcoated backdrop: big Sunday dinners, nosy neighbors, gossip at the bar, dogs underfoot and family histories that go back generations.
