Series background & context

The Bloodmoon Wars books sit in the same larger world as Luna Rising, but they work as their own story too. This is the earlier, rougher chapter of that universe, when the line between werewolves and vampires is still drawn in blood. The series opens with a relationship that should not exist at all, and that tension drives almost everything that follows.

It starts with a rescue that changes the rules.

At the center is a young werewolf woman who falls for Will Hunter, a powerful vampire general. That alone is enough to put her at odds with her own people. Snow uses that forbidden attraction as the spark, but the books do not stay small for long. As the series moves forward, disappearances spread, loyalties split, and the question stops being whether the romance is dangerous. The question becomes how much damage this world can absorb before it breaks open.

Will matters because he is not written as a simple villain or a simple hero. He is tied to vampire power in a way that makes every emotional choice feel political. Around him, the world keeps widening. The books bring in vampire leadership, werewolf expectations, hidden powers, and a war that turns personal pain into something much larger. The heroine has to balance what she feels with what her people expect, and that tension never really lets up.

The tone is fast, emotional, and openly paranormal. You get forbidden romance, supernatural danger, and a constant sense that every secret matters. Snow also layers in a broader monster-filled world, with vampires at the front of the conflict but other dark creatures shaping the atmosphere around them.

If you like paranormal romance where love and warfare keep feeding each other, this series fits that space well. It also adds background to the world behind Luna Rising, but it does not depend on that connection. On its own, Bloodmoon Wars is a story about choosing between loyalty and desire in a world that punishes both.
