Bid on Love works a little differently from Mason's other series pages because it is part of a larger shared-world project built around a bachelor charity auction. The core idea is simple and very romance-friendly. Eligible men are put up for bids, women win dates or weekends with them, and what starts as a public event becomes private complication. Different authors take that setup in different directions.

Mason's contribution is Stab at Love, and she takes the premise somewhere much darker than the title of the shared series might suggest. Her bachelor is Ashton Wolfe, a photographer with a killer's mind, and the woman drawn to him, Ivy Ellis, wins a weekend at a haunted mansion in Williamsburg. That means the usual auction-story ingredients, attraction, mystery, nerves, forced time together, are all there, but they are filtered through Mason's taste for danger and deeply untrustworthy men.

This is not a light auction-date story.

What makes it feel like Mason is the tension between surface romance beats and a much more sinister undercurrent. Ivy is not simply wondering whether the masked stranger likes her back. She is walking toward somebody who has already imagined her as prey. At the same time, the book still uses the intimacy of the setup well. The auction forces these two characters together, the haunted-house setting traps them inside their own performance of seduction, and the story keeps asking whether desire can exist alongside fear without collapsing into something worse.

Because Bid on Love is a shared world, you do not need to think of it the same way you would a tightly connected trilogy. The draw here is the premise and the way Mason bends it toward dark romantic suspense. If you enjoy bachelor-auction setups but want one with sharper teeth, Stab at Love is the reason to visit this page. It is short, quick, and much more dangerous than the setup first suggests.
