Becca Fitzpatrick Books in Order

Becca Fitzpatrick was born in Utah and raised in North Platte, Nebraska. As a girl, she read mysteries and adventure stories under the covers and learned early that danger on the page could be a lot of fun. That mix of suspense, romance, and uneasy questions would later become her lane as a novelist.

Writing was not the first plan.

She studied community health at Brigham Young University, then worked at an alternative high school in Provo, where her job list included secretary, teacher, and accountant. She has also said that when she was in college, she imagined a very different future and even applied to the CIA. The straight path into publishing was not obvious.

The turn came when her husband signed her up for a writing class for her twenty-fourth birthday. In that class she started Hush, Hush, then spent years revising it, sending it out, getting rejected, and trying again. She has talked openly about how long that learning curve was, and how the book only found its shape after a lot of reworking. She also goes back to old teenage journals to reconnect with the feelings that drive her stories, first love, embarrassment, betrayal, fear.

That patience paid off.

Hush, Hush introduced readers to Nora Grey and Patch Cipriano, a careful student and the unsettling boy in her biology class who turns out to be much more than he seems. Readers responded to the tension as much as the fantasy, the feeling that attraction and danger were tangled together from page one. The story grew into a four-book arc with Crescendo, Silence, and Finale, and all four books debuted as New York Times bestsellers.

Fitzpatrick did not stay in one mode. With Black Ice, she traded fallen angels for snow, survival, and a girl trapped on a mountain with men she cannot quite read. With Dangerous Lies, she moved into witness protection, rural Nebraska, and the kind of suspense where even a fresh start feels exposed. Across very different setups, she tends to return to capable teenage heroines, secrets that keep shifting, and love interests who are as risky as they are compelling.

Place matters in her books. Coldwater, Maine gives the Hush, Hush saga its damp, moody edge, while the Teton Range in Black Ice turns weather and landscape into real enemies. Even when the setting changes, her stories usually trap characters in high-pressure situations where trust has to be earned the hard way.

She has said that reading taught her more about storytelling than writing alone ever could. That checks out. Even in her most romantic books, there is usually a mystery to solve, a lie to expose, or a hidden past waiting to catch up with somebody.

She lives in Colorado with her family. These days, her official bio says she spends her free time on the tennis court, which feels fitting for a writer whose books rarely sit still for long.
