Then The Last Stop hits them with something even more random: a broken-down bus and an unplanned stay in a small Illinois town. Mandy witnesses a murder, and suddenly the choice is stark, keep moving and stay safe, or dig in and protect people who never asked for this.

Across the series, the ongoing arc is about trying to live a quieter life while being unable to ignore injustice. Bear’s instincts are still those of an operator, but his priorities are shifting because Mandy is part of every decision now.
