Going Nowhere

by Abbie Zanders

2017

Reid MacIntyre is a shifter operative who cannot afford distractions, not even when his wolf insists healer Alyx is their mate. With a ruthless enemy hunting from the shadows, love becomes just as dangerous as the mission.

Series background & context

The BAMF Team books take Abbie Zanders into darker paranormal suspense territory. The setup is built around an elite underground ops group, but this is not straight military romance with a few fantasy details sprinkled on top. The supernatural side matters, and so does the danger closing in from every direction.

In Going Nowhere, that pressure centers on Reid MacIntyre, a shifter operative who refuses to let instinct rule his life, and Alyx, a gifted healer who is just as exposed as he is. That pairing tells you a lot about the series' lane. These are stories where special abilities are useful, but also risky. The enemy is real, organized, and actively hunting, which means romance develops under stress instead of in safety.

This series has teeth.

At the same time, it still works like romance, not just action. The emotional pull comes from characters who would rather stay guarded but keep getting pushed toward trust, partnership, and the possibility of a mate bond they did not ask for. The missions add urgency, but the relationship is what gives the books their weight.

If you like shifters, black-ops energy, and a story that runs a little darker than a cozy paranormal, BAMF Team is worth a look. Expect action, protective instincts, hidden enemies, and enough emotional payoff to balance the danger.
