Author bio
Arianne Richmonde grew up between England and the United States. She has described herself as half British and half American, with a mother from Michigan, and she has also lived in Spain and France. That mix of places matters in her fiction. Even when the plots turn dark, there is usually a strong sense of setting, whether it is New York, a film set, or a lonely house by the sea.
Before she was known for novels, she worked as an actress. That background seems to have stayed with her. Her books spend a lot of time inside people's heads, especially when desire, fear, or obsession starts steering the wheel. She has said she likes immersing herself in the minds and lives of her characters, and that shows in both the romances and the later thrillers.
She is also a painter.
Richmonde has said that The Wizard of Oz was one of the first books that made her dream of becoming a writer. Over time, that impulse seems to have mixed with her love of travel, human behavior, and complicated relationships. She speaks French and Spanish fluently, and her stories often move with the confidence of someone who has seen different cultures up close.
A lot of readers first found her through the Pearl books. Beginning with Shades of Pearl, later also published as Forty Shades of Pearl, the series follows Pearl Robinson and the younger French tech billionaire Alexandre Chevalier. The setup is simple, a forty-year-old documentary producer, a reverse age-gap romance, and a lot of chemistry, but the appeal goes beyond heat. Readers who click with Richmonde usually come back for the emotional messiness, the jealousy, the glamour, and the sense that love and danger are never far apart. That series went on to sell more than half a million copies worldwide.
She did not stay in one lane for long.
With books like Stolen Grace, Richmonde leaned harder into suspense and family pressure. Then came The Wife's House, The Newlyweds, The Guilty Sister, The Breakdown, and The Prenup, novels that move firmly into psychological thriller territory. These books trade billionaires and movie sets for troubled marriages, missing people, damaged families, and narrators who may not understand the danger until it is already inside the house. Even so, the through line is the same, character first, strong emotion, and plenty of sharp turns.
Her earlier romantic series show another side of her range. Beautiful Chaos drops into the world of fame, film, and rehab-era fallout, while The Glass Trilogy mixes performance, obsession, and dark romantic suspense around actress Janie Cole and director Daniel Glass. Across all of it, Richmonde returns to people under strain, lovers with secrets, families that can wound as much as they protect, and settings that feel vivid enough to step into.
These days she lives in France with her husband and a busy animal household. She has written about life in a restored stone farmhouse surrounded by vineyards and sunflower fields, and about using travel as both pleasure and research. There is a nice contrast there, country life on one side, twisty fiction on the other. It suits her.
If you are new to Arianne Richmonde, it helps to know what she does best. She likes passion, but she also likes unease. She likes people who want each other badly, and people who do not fully trust what they are being told. Whether you start with a steamy series or one of the later domestic thrillers, you are stepping into books built around tension, secrecy, and the messy parts of being human.
