Annie Pederson Books in Order

The Annie Pederson books return Colleen Coble to Rock Harbor, but the series has its own lead and its own emotional center. Annie is a law enforcement ranger carrying an old wound that never healed, her little sister was kidnapped when Annie was a child, and the guilt of that night still shapes how she moves through the world.

Edge of Dusk opens with Annie grieving fresh losses as well, including the deaths of her husband and parents, while trying to raise her daughter Kylie and deal with a body found near Rock Harbor. Dark of Night expands the story with a woman who may be Annie's long-lost sister and more missing-person danger in the Upper Peninsula. Break of Day brings the trilogy toward resolution while pushing Annie and the people she loves into still more risk.

This is one of Coble's more personal suspense series.

The mysteries matter, but Annie's family story is the real spine. Questions about Sarah, Annie's first love Jon, and the kind of future Annie can still build keep the books tied together. The atmosphere is familiar to Rock Harbor readers, with woods, shoreline, cold air, and remote trails, but the emotional focus is more explicitly on family repair.

Kylie helps too. Annie is not only solving cases or revisiting old trauma. She is also trying to be a mother while danger keeps intruding. That gives the series a grounded urgency that works well.

If you already like Rock Harbor, Annie Pederson is an easy next step. If you are new to Coble and want a trilogy with one continuing heroine, layered family history, and steadily rising stakes, it also works well as its own entry point.
