Love matters, especially where Jack Flint is concerned, but so does work, self-respect, and the need to stand on your own feet.

That mix is what gives Angels its shape. You get country house tensions, village life, romance, grief, and long-buried secrets, but the books stay grounded in the practical business of women trying to make choices in a world that keeps trying to make them for them.
