Series background & context

The Amish Quilt Shop Mysteries center on Angie Braddock, a non Amish woman who inherits a quilt shop in Holmes County, Ohio, and discovers that small town peace often comes with a side of homicide.

When Angie arrives in Rolling Brook to take over Running Stitch, she is looking for a reset. Her engagement has collapsed, her old job no longer fits, and the quiet village where she spent childhood vacations seems like the perfect place to start again. The shop itself is steeped in Amish tradition, from hand pieced quilts to long standing quilting circles, and Angie has to learn fast if she wants to honor her aunt’s legacy and win the trust of both Amish and English customers.

Those plans take a sharp turn when she finds an Amish woodworker dead in her storeroom the morning after the grand reopening. As the newcomer who just took over the shop, she becomes an obvious suspect, and the only way to clear her name is to start asking questions. The answers lead through family feuds, business rivalries, and secrets that stretch back years.

Later cases pull Angie deeper into community life. She enters quilts in an Amish auction, only to stumble across the body of a township trustee behind a canning shed. A Christmas progressive dinner and play ends when an actress falls from the rafters. A library book sale, a contentious bishop, and a bookmobile become central to another murder. Home renovations in partnership with Amish craftsmen bring still more conflict, and a contractor’s death turns a dream project into a crime scene.

Throughout the series, Angie relies on her late aunt’s quilting friends, her best friend Rachel, and her French bulldog Oliver, who has a knack for charming nearly everyone he meets. Sheriff James Mitchell, both lawman and romantic interest, has to balance his duty with the reality that Angie seems to attract trouble.

These mysteries stay firmly on the cozy side, with clean language, an emphasis on relationships, and a focus on the puzzle rather than graphic detail. They also offer a detailed look at quilting, auctions, and the everyday ways Amish and English lives intersect in a tourist friendly Ohio village. If you like crafts, community, and a heroine who is equal parts determined and slightly out of her depth, this series is a good fit.
