Alpha Squad is Michelle Howard's military sci-fi lane, and it starts on an Earth that is already under strain. Project Genesis hints at a government program, a dangerous new role for the people pulled into it, and a larger alien threat that has not finished making itself known.

At the center is Vin Michaels, the leader of Alpha Squad. He gave up a normal life when he was pushed into Project Genesis, and that choice cost him more than a career. When an attack brings Helen Scott back into his orbit, the story becomes both an invasion romance and a second-chance romance.

That mix is the main draw here.
