Alien Superstar

2019
Thirteen-year-old Buddy Burger escapes his repressive home planet and crash-lands on the backlot of a Hollywood studio, where everyone assumes he is an actor in an amazing costume. Cast in a TV show as an alien, he suddenly has fans, parties and one enormous problem, keeping his true identity secret.
Series background & context
The Alien Superstar series introduces Buddy Burger, a six‑eyed alien from a tightly controlled planet where joy, art and individual expression are forbidden. On his home world, children wear devices that filter their senses, and at thirteen those enhancers are shut off, ending any chance to experience color, music or taste in full. Faced with that future, Buddy chooses to flee.
In the first book, Alien Superstar, Buddy escapes aboard a spaceship and crash‑lands on the backlot of a Hollywood studio. To human eyes he looks like an actor in an amazing alien costume, so security waves him right through. Within days he is cast in a TV sitcom playing, of course, an alien, and overnight he goes from frightened refugee to rising star.
The series has fun with the fish‑out‑of‑water setup. Buddy navigates studio executives, fan mail, red‑carpet premieres and craft‑services tables piled with strange Earth snacks. His suction‑cup feet and extra eyes, which made him stand out at home, become part of his appeal. At the same time, he is constantly worried that one slip will reveal he is not acting at all.
Danger arrives in Lights, Camera, Danger! when Citizen Cruel, a ruthless enforcer from Buddy’s planet, comes to Earth disguised and determined to drag him back for punishment. By Hollywood vs. the Galaxy, the Supreme Leader himself is ready to step in, using mind‑control and political pressure that threaten both Buddy’s friends and the show that changed his life.
Running underneath the jokes about avocado cravings and odd human customs is a story about identity and belonging. Buddy has to decide who he is when nobody around him shares his history or even his biology. His friendships with human castmates and crew, who only know him as a kind, curious “actor,” help anchor him as he weighs loyalty to his past against the chance for a freer future.
Alien Superstar balances action, comedy and a gentle critique of fame. It asks what it means to feel like an outsider, how power can abuse difference, and how found family can give you the courage to stand up to a whole galaxy when you need to.
