Why this app?

We really like what Penguin Random House (PRH) does on Twitter. Every now and then, they spend 30min giving you book recommendations based on “what you're in the mood to read.”

You can see them doing that here.

For example, if you say you want to read a book about “great world building and romance,” PRH recommends “The Space Between Worlds” by Micaiah Johnson.

This is a good "mood-based" recommendation. And we’ve always wanted to do that!

Unfortunately for us, whoever is doing this for PRH must know a lot of books (searching would take too long). No one in our team can answer that many questions so quickly.

Luckily, we now have a new intern: OpenAI's GPT-3 :)

It's... Pretty smart.

Give it a try! If you scroll up and say you want to read a book about “great world building and romance,” GPT-3 will recommend “The Winner's Curse” by Marie Rutkoski.

This blew our mind the first time we saw it. It's a true "mood-based" recommendation!

We hope you will love it as much as we do.

P.S.: If you have a “I wish this app did X” thought, we want to hear it. Contact us here (or reach out to Richard or Anurag on Twitter. Between the two of us, we cover all timezones).

P.P.S.: For a fun story about this app, check out The Next Web's "This AI advised me to read The Hunger Games to survive this 'cruel world.'"
